Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Plant Operator to join our team at GFL Environmental. As a key member of our liquids division, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our waste receiving, handling, processing, and disposal facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process client waste, including bulk and containerized materials
  • Conduct lab analysis on waste samples and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Operate plant machinery and assist with general maintenance and repairs
  • Assist with waste processing methods and processes, ensuring efficient and safe operations
  • Prepare shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste for transport, adhering to strict safety protocols
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure their implementation
  • Notify supervisors of any defects, damages, or incidents, and document completion status of assigned work
  • Comply with health and safety standards, use personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in hazardous and non-hazardous waste management is an asset
  • Familiarity with air diaphragm pumps and bulk liquid transfer systems is an asset
  • Propane forklift experience/certification is an asset
  • Willingness to work overtime, alternate shifts, and weekends
  • Ability to multi-task, work effectively in a team environment, and maintain a high level of safety consciousness
  • Ability to lift upwards of 50 lbs. and work in a mostly outdoor environment in all weather conditions
  • Emergency response availability, including evenings and weekends
