About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dental Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Toronto Family Dental. As a key member of our dental laboratory, you will be responsible for preparing patients for dental examinations, preparing plaster models and moulds, and supervising dental assistants in their health care functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for dental examinations and procedures
  • Prepare plaster models and moulds for dental restorations
  • Supervise dental assistants in their health care functions
  • Train other dental laboratory assistants
  • Order dental and office supplies
  • Perform administrative functions for the dental laboratory
  • Prepare dental instruments and filling materials
  • Maintain and order supplies
  • Perform reception and clerical duties
  • Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment
  • Educate patients concerning oral hygiene
  • Finish metal framework of dentures
  • Polish teeth and clinical crowns and apply fluoride and sealant
  • Pack plastic material in moulds to form full or partial dentures
  • Perform intra-oral duties
  • Make orthodontic bands from metal and alloys
  • Record dental procedures performed on patients
  • Invoice patients for dental services
  • Polish and buff dentures
  • Fabricate and place temporary crowns and restorations
  • Take preliminary impressions for diagnostic casts

Requirements:

  • Other trades certificate or diploma
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience
  • Or equivalent experience

Work Environment:

Our dental laboratory is a fast-paced environment where you will work under pressure and perform repetitive tasks. You must have attention to detail and be able to work in a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
