Research Assistant Role

As a Research Assistant at The Bank of Canada, you will play a vital role in supporting our economic and financial research teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and gain invaluable hands-on experience, contributing directly to the impactful work we do.

A Day in the Life

Start your day by staying up-to-date on the latest economic and financial news, both locally and globally. This sets the stage for your analysis work, where you'll build narratives that influence policy recommendations, dive into preparations for different Governing Council data, and synthesize complex economic developments into clear, concise reports for senior leadership.

You will regularly engage in research projects on innovative topics, collaborating with senior researchers. Your contributions help advance the understanding of economic trends and policy impacts. You play a vital role in the publication of reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity.

Eligibility
  • To be considered for this opportunity, you must have completed a bachelor's degree between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2025, in either of the following fields:
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Mathematics or Statistics With a minor in Economics or Finance
  • Business Administration; Commerce; or Computer Science With a major in Economics or Finance
Skills
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in data collection and analysis
  • Commitment to continuous learning
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Proficiency with tools like MATLAB, Python, EViews, R, Julia, Stata, C/Fortran, ArcGIS, Bloomberg, Reuters, VBA, SQL, etc.
Assets
  • Knowledge of econometrics, financial modeling, market issues, and regulatory policies

Language and Security Requirements

Remote Work/Hybrid Work Model
