Maintenance Planner Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Planner to join our team at Holcim. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure the efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:Safety and Environmental Considerations:
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S and environmental policies for maintenance personnel.
  • Establish a safety culture and implement measures to prevent health and safety risks during maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to plant housekeeping and cleanliness.
Maintenance Planning:
  • Plan and schedule corrective and preventive maintenance routines in SAP PM/DMS.
  • Coordinate with other departments to generate weekly and daily plans, as well as a 13-week basic plan.
  • Prioritize notifications and generate corrective work orders with a clear scope of work.
MMS (SAP) Management:
  • Update BOMs for existing or new equipment.
  • Assign functional, equipment number, and criticality to new equipment.
  • Coordinate with stores to manage safety stock and Min/Max levels for stock items.
Cost Control:
  • Ensure all planned WOs include required costs before scheduling.
  • Run a weekly Actual Cost Report to track deviations from the Weekly Planned Cost.
Shutdown Planning:
  • Implement and follow up on shutdown PMA stages.
  • Plan SDB and MINI Work Orders for short kiln shutdowns.
  • Lead shutdown plan preparation and consolidation for all departments.
Goal Setting and Innovation:
  • Assist in setting department objectives and developing the annual maintenance budget.
  • Track maintenance costs and parts costs for major projects and shutdowns.
  • Lead After Action Review (AAR) for shutdowns or major shutdowns.
Relationship with Others:
  • Report to the Preventive Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Work independently and in small teams of laborers/contractors.
  • Supervise/coordinate contractors and laborers to perform specific tasks.
Dimensions:
  • Direct Reports: none.
  • Indirect Reports: none.
  • Volumes: 1,000 clinker – 1,000 cement tons.
  • Budget: Approximately $13M per annum.
  • Areas: 2 crushers, 1 raw mill/1 silica mill, 1 kiln, 2 finish mill/1 dock.
Qualification Profile:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist or equivalent field experience.
  • Extensive experience in heavy equipment repair; experience in inspection is an asset.
  • Proven experience in planning major work and plant shutdowns using computer software.
  • Experience with Computerized Mechanical Maintenance System (SAP).

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques (e.g., Pareto Analysis, Root Cause Failure Analysis, etc.).
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong communicator (both oral & written).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with plant personnel.
  • Highly motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates commitment to achieving organizational and personal goals.
  • Has proven ability to work well in a team environment (co-workers, suppliers, etc.).
  • Is well organized and systematic.
  • Costs management.
  • Has Lafarge planner certification.
