Job Summary

Medisca, a global corporation with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical compounding, is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join its Finance Department. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles and be proficient in financial analysis tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in financial reporting, including the preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting, including the development of annual budgets and forecasts, and monitoring variances between actual performance and budgeted expectations.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including profitability analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and variance analysis.
  • Assist in account reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in coordinating and providing support for internal and external audits, including gathering documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • CPA or progress towards CPA certification is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and US payroll.
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable/payable.
  • Proficiency in financial software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with financial and consolidation systems is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills: fluent French (in Québec) and English (oral & written) required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and draw meaningful insights.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to the achievement of team goals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
