Manufacturing Engineering Internship Opportunity

About the Role
Sierra Space is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our high-performance team. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of manufacturing engineering, including process development, production optimization, and quality control for aerospace systems.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and develop practical skills in a real-world manufacturing environment. Our Co-ops have the unique experience of getting both mentoring and coaching while working side by side with recognized industry experts on real-world assignments directly related to their field of study.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing and developing specialized tools, jigs, and fixtures for the manufacturing and assembly of aerospace components and systems
- Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineers to understand specific manufacturing requirements and constraints
- Participate in feasibility studies and provide recommendations for tooling solutions that enhance manufacturing efficiency and quality
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed tool designs, including 3D models, drawings, and specifications
- Join design reviews with cross-functional teams to ensure tool designs meet project requirements and standards
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors to select and procure tooling components and materials
- Help develop and maintain comprehensive tooling documentation, including design files, drawings, and specifications
- Support manufacturing and assembly teams in the implementation and use of specialized tools and fixtures
- Assist in tooling validation and verification activities to ensure tool performance and functionality
- Collaborate with technicians and operators, providing training and guidance on the use of specialized tools and fixtures
- Stay current with advancements in tool design and manufacturing technologies, applying relevant knowledge to ongoing projects
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations in all tool design and manufacturing activities
About You

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Must have at least one academic term remaining after the completion of the internship
- Students must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior undergraduate student or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. Program
- Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
- Strong organization skills and work ethic; detail-oriented
