Island Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing support and guidance to individuals facing mental health challenges.

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work closely with clients to assist them in developing life skills, navigating community resources, and achieving their personal goals. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Providing emotional support and encouragement to clients.
  • Assisting clients in accessing mental health services and programs.
  • Facilitating group activities and workshops designed to promote well-being.
  • Documenting client progress and interactions.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

To excel in this position, you will possess:

  • A Diploma in Community Social Services or a related field, including post-secondary education in counselling skills training.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship Act.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental illness or special needs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • A current Level C Basic Life Saving Certificate and a valid Class 5 vehicle license.
