Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapy Assistant

Job Summary:

Baycrest is seeking an Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapy Assistant to provide patient care services in a dynamic and compassionate environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver ambulation and transfer training, activities of daily living, and instrumental activities of daily living for clients.
  • Implement upper extremity and lower extremity programs, range of motion/stretching programs, mobility training, transfer training, cognitive training, functional treatment, exercise classes, group treatment, and educational treatment for clients and caregivers.
  • Provide indirect care, including sewing modifications, adaptive clothing, positioning devices, environmental modifications, wheelchair/walker modifications, inventory checks, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist clients in purchasing equipment.
  • Participate in the supervision of OTA/PTA students and volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant diploma from an accredited college program or equivalent.
  • Recent and related experience, preferably in a dual role or a 30-hour refresher course completed within a specified timeframe.
  • Recent related rehabilitation experience with older adult populations, preferably with various conditions.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy and physiotherapy areas of practice, including activities of daily living, assistive devices, home safety, and energy conservation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
