Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant will provide clinical care to various hospital clients, both inpatient and outpatient, in the Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation High-Tolerance unit and other areas as needed. This role will work as an integral part of an inter-professional team to help patients attain maximum physical and functional goals to support return to living in the community as independently as possible.

Responsibilities
  • Carries out ambulation and transfer training, activities of daily living, and instrumental activities of daily living for clients.
  • Provides indirect care, including sewing modifications, adaptive clothing, positioning devices, environmental modifications, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assists clients in purchasing equipment and participates in supervision of OTA/PTA students and volunteers.
Qualifications
  • Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant diploma from an accredited College program or equivalent.
  • Recent and related experience, preferably in a dual role, or a 30-hour refresher course completed within the last six months.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy areas of practice, including assistive devices, home safety, and energy conservation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
