About the Role:
The BC SPCA is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to the animals in our shelter.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the animal enclosures, including kennels, runs, and cat cages.
- Ensure the health and welfare of the animals by monitoring their behavior, providing fresh water and food, and administering medication as needed.
- Perform daily animal care duties, including bathing, grooming, and exercising animals.
- Record animal behavior, health, and welfare information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the animal care department.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects, and to stand for long periods of time.
- Computer experience with Windows and Microsoft Office.
