Animal Care Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our team at the BC SPCA. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to the animals in our shelter.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the shelter and its facilities
- Ensure the health and welfare of the animals through regular monitoring and reporting
- Provide daily care and attention to the animals, including feeding, watering, and exercise
- Perform general bathing and grooming of animals as needed
- Treat animals humanely and with compassion, in accordance with the BC SPCA's five freedoms
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract
- Strong desire to provide excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Resourceful team player with a positive attitude and adaptability
- A sound knowledge of animals, their breeds, characteristics, and common diseases
- Previous kennel or animal care experience an asset
