Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child and Family Therapist to join our team at Island Health. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution and current registration with the BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW). Additionally, they will have advanced training or certification in therapeutic modalities or specialized interventions for children, adolescents, and families with complex mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and family assessments in mental health settings.
  • Build relationships and create a safe and supportive environment for clients and their families.
  • Provide crisis intervention, short-term counseling, and individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to provide high-quality care.
  • Develop and implement effective case management plans.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a psychiatric pediatric setting or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and tertiary care health environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
