The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the Garron Centre for Child & Adolescent Mental Health. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients under the age of 19 who are experiencing psychiatric disorders.

As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with nursing, psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, recreation therapy, social work, and teaching staff to develop comprehensive care plans for each child and family.

Your expertise in mental health/psychiatric populations will be essential in maximizing the scope of practice for mental health nurses. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills through training programs such as Emergency Mental Health and Addiction Service (EMHAS) and charge nurse/preceptor training.

Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Registered, or eligible to be registered, with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing required.
  • CNA Certification in Mental Health Nursing and/or RNPDC Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Program an asset.
  • Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate, required.
  • Previous psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
