Job Title: Estimator, Civil/Water/Wastewater

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team in Vancouver. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for construction projects in the Civil, Water, and Wastewater sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare cost estimates for construction projects, including materials and labor costs.
  • Establish unit costs, labor rates, and productivity factors for each project.
  • Obtain competitive prices for materials and equipment.
  • Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, and contingency.
  • Develop competitive edges on tenders and pursuits to improve chances of success.
  • Attend pre-tender site visits and meetings to understand project scope.
  • Review design options and recommend best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, and material availability.
  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts and change orders.
  • Participate in commercial and contract negotiations for sub-trade buy-outs on secured projects.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction, engineering, or relevant field.
  • 3+ years of experience in estimating, with a focus on water and wastewater projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of cost-estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret building specifications, schematics, and as-builds.
  • Good understanding of current market conditions and competitors in the industry.
