We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at Randstad Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects in the Civil, Water, and Wastewater sectors.

As a Civil/Water/Wastewater Project Estimator, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing materials, labour, and equipment cost estimations for construction projects.
  • Establishing unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors, and location impacts.
  • Obtaining competitive material and equipment prices for tenders and pursuits.
  • Evaluating and recommending allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation, and contingency.
  • Establishing and developing competitive edges on tenders and pursuits to improve chances of success.
  • Attending pre-tender site visits and meetings to understand the scope of the project.
  • Reviewing design options and recommending the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
  • Providing technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, and other commercial matters.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in construction or engineering, or relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in estimating.
  • Experience estimating on water and wastewater projects.
  • The ability to read and interpret building specifications, schematics, and as-builds.
  • Experience using cost-estimating software to prepare cost quotes and bids.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • A good understanding of current market conditions and competitors within our marketplace.
