About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Data Engineering team at Vancity as a Data Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and building efficient and reliable data pipelines, cleansing and normalizing diverse datasets for analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement data pipelines using big data and analytics programming languages such as Python, R, and Spark in Databricks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with data services that support business and application systems.
  • Create and manage knowledge bases, access controls, deployment pipeline architecture, and infrastructure related to the Data Platform.
  • Help drive transformation by continuously looking for ways to automate existing processes and optimize for efficiency and data quality.
  • Represent the team as a subject matter expert for strategic projects and contribute to end-to-end data architecture solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in Data Engineering or a related field handling data processing and transformation of disparate datasets.
  • Experience with big data and analytics programming languages such as Python, R, and Spark in Databricks.
  • Experience with batch and real-time processing frameworks (EventHub, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, etc.).
  • Willingness to work in a highly flexible environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to innovate and adapt to the latest developments in the area of expertise.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in design and implementation of data integrations in Azure data stack such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, EventHub.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices to incorporate security first principles.
  • Good understanding of data storage, data mapping, and modeling, real-time data handling.

About the Team:

In this role, you will report to the Manager, Data Engineering.

Salary Band:

The salary range for the role is $81,200 to $122,000, and a candidate's offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role, $101,600.
