Spiritual Care Director

Baycrest Hospital seeks a highly skilled and compassionate Spiritual Care Director to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing spiritual care and guidance to our residents, patients, and families.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Guidance: Provide leadership and guidance to spiritual care practitioners in delivering programs and services that meet the spiritual needs of our residents and patients.
- Collaboration and Partnership: Work collaboratively with staff, physicians, and members of the leadership team to ensure alignment between corporate and program strategic and operational priorities.
- Program Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and evaluate spiritual care programs that promote the well-being and spiritual growth of our residents and patients.
- Community Engagement: Act as a liaison and portal to the broader community, building relationships with external organizations and agencies to support the spiritual care needs of our residents and patients.
- Policy Development and Compliance: Ensure that standards of practice and competencies are in compliance with professional and religious governing bodies, and develop policies and procedures related to Jewish Faith-Based Institution operational requirements.
- Counseling and Support: Provide individual and group counseling to residents, patients, families, and members of the Baycrest congregation and the broader community.
- Life-Cycle Support: Offer life-cycle support, including end-of-life counseling to residents, patients, and families.
- Training and Education: Support the operation of the Clinical Pastoral Education training and maintain CASC accreditation, promoting inter-professional education and collaboration across all disciplines.
- Education: Completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree program, or equivalent.
- Certifications: Successful attainment of semicha or similar rabbinic ordination, preferred. Clinical Pastoral Education ('CPE') or Pastoral Counselling Education ('PCE') certification or equivalent.
- Experience: 3 years related experience providing spiritual care and chaplaincy services, including at least 3 years' experience in leadership/management capacity.
- Skills: Exceptional verbal communication skills, superior written, listening, and presentation communication skills. Knowledge of the Religious Freedom Act (Ontario). Comprehensive knowledge of Halacha (the collective body of Jewish law, including biblical law and later Talmudic and rabbinic law, as well as customs and traditions).
