Director, Claims Analytics Lead

This role will lead the development of an advanced analytics team focused on claims data analysis. The successful candidate will have experience in leading teams and driving business outcomes through data-driven insights. The role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to identify business needs and developing strategies to meet those needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of actuarial processes and reserving techniques, as well as experience in delivering insights and recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of an advanced analytics team focused on claims data analysis.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs and develop strategies to meet those needs.
- Develop and maintain claims reports and dashboards to monitor claims performance and reserve adequacy.
- Conduct thorough statistical analysis of claims data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement comprehensive plans and solutions that bridge complex issues spanning across time.
- Lead a team of Claims Operational Insights specialists, who are responsible for the creation, design, and delivery of Claims business intelligence and management information framework for Claims Operations.
- Stay abreast of industry, regulatory and company changes or trends as they relate to the P&C insurance industry in general and actuarial insights in particular.
- Oversee and coach a team to ensure the work environment is respectful, challenging and rewarding and employees are maximized to their full potential while contributing to the achievement of Wawanesa's goals.
- Develop and enhance productive business relationships by consulting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience in an advanced analytics leadership role with a claims focus is ideal for this candidate.
- Recommended 10 years' property and casualty analytics experience, with three years in a leadership role.
- ACAS designation recommended, and Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society is preferred.
- Strong understanding of actuarial processes and reserving techniques (reserving experience preferred)
- Undergraduate university degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other related field of study.
- Experience of delivering insight and recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong relationship management skills - ability to manage key relationships and act independently.
- Excellent communication style - ability to interact with Executives, Senior Management and other key stakeholders with the competence to effectively convey ideas in a persuasive and eloquent manner.
- Strong leadership skills and experience to create a high-performing employee culture.
- A passion and drive to want to get things right for the customer.
- Ability to make well justified decisions in complex and high-pressure situations.
- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive plans and solutions that bridge complex issues spanning across time.
- Strong business acumen with critical thinking and problem-solving skills leading to the ability to recognize and identify critical issues.
- CIP or equivalent Property and Casualty industry designation considered an asset.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
