Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Liability Claims Specialist to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle claims by telephone, correspondence, and when required through mediation (virtual or in-person) and correspondence.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of technical claims handling experience in commercial auto and property claims handling, with a strong background in commercial liability claims. The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in an insurance-related field and be licensed as an independent adjuster with the ability to maintain a full adjusting license in their home province.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigation, collection, and analysis of claims information
  • Accurate recording, reporting, and presentation of files
  • Evaluation of coverage, liability, and quantum
  • Maintenance of accurate billing, time, and expense records
  • Negotiation, settlement, and finalization of claims
  • Work with manager to maintain client relations

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years of technical claims handling experience in commercial auto and property claims handling
  • Commercial liability claims experience is required
  • Post-secondary education in an insurance-related field is considered an asset
  • Experience in multiline claims, complex claim handling, legal proceedings, and litigation management
  • CIP designation or working towards CIP designation is required
  • Independent Adjuster Licensed with ability to maintain a full adjusting license in your home province
  • Strong computer and reporting skills, including Office 365 and Windows 10
  • A team player with outstanding customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and mathematical ability
  • Able to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong PC skills, including application-based skills
  • Complete continuing education courses as required by Crawford and Company, province, or professional trade association
