At Aviva, we value our team members and strive to create a work environment that is inclusive and supportive. We are currently seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Appraiser to join our team in Ontario-GTA, Alberta, and the Atlantic Region.

This role involves assessing repairs and total loss valuations for heavy on-road and off-road vehicles, including motorhomes, RVs, commercial use trailers, heavy industrial equipment, heavy trucks, medium-duty trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and ATVs. You will work efficiently to control indemnity spend and expenses while delivering superior customer service and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize computerized estimating systems to prepare complete, competitive repair estimates and communicate repair estimate information to customers, repair facilities, and claim representatives as needed.
  • Review appraisals from approved vendors.
  • Negotiate with repair facilities on repair plan processes.
  • Re-inspect repaired units for quality of service and cost control measures.
  • Evaluate actual cash value and sometimes replacement cost value of units declared a total loss and take proactive steps to control storage and rental vehicle costs.
  • Adhere to dispatch needs and fulfill claim investigation and resolution in the field.
  • Report fraudulent claims to senior supervisors.
  • Hours of operation may include evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
  • Work closely with claims handlers to provide valuable coaching and information on coverage issues.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve the customer experience, claims handling processes, and financial outcomes for the business.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of vehicle damage appraisal, minimum 2 years of heavy equipment appraisal, and collision repair industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of Audatex and Mitchell Estimating System.
  • Prior appraisal and hands-on shop experience is a must.
  • Strong computer skills, good communication skills, a strong team player, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • A network of reliable industry contacts for part pricing, used vehicle values, and repair procedures.
