Healthcare Support Worker

The Health Care Aide provides support and assistance to residents/patients in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as identified in the care plan. This role requires a high level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed, and action to be taken on unusual matters.
Key Responsibilities- Provide person-centered care according to established standards of practice, including Accreditation Canada Standards, Personal Care Home Standards, and legislative requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Psychiatric Nurse as team leaders to ensure high-quality care.
- Engage in education and certifications to maintain competency and stay up-to-date with industry developments.
- Exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively.
- Communicate effectively with residents/patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Meet the physical and mental demands of the job, including working in stressful environments and interacting with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in both official languages (English/French) is essential.
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute Care).
- One to two (1-2) years' experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of confidentiality/privacy requirements, workplace safety, and violence prevention programs is required.
