About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Specialist to join our team at goeasy. As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the management team in maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Consultation and Support: Provide high-quality consultation to management on strategies and approaches to manage complex employee issues.
  • Investigations and Documentation: Conduct employee investigations independently or in liaison with internal Branch Audit team, professionally documenting findings and recommendations for review by Senior Leadership.
  • Performance Management: Oversee and support management team with performance management activity, including performance issues, progressive discipline/corrective action up to and including termination.
  • HR Initiatives: Support the execution of ongoing HR initiatives, such as the annual performance review process and employee engagement events.
  • Employee Leave and Accommodation: Manage employee leave of absences, return to work plans, and accommodation requests.
  • HR Projects and Compliance: Actively support HR projects as they arise and maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with provincial employment laws.
  • Health and Safety: Coordinate with management team on Health & Safety matters, including workplace injury situations.
  • Policy Interpretation and Guidance: Assist employees and management with the interpretation of Company policies and respond to inquiries and concerns.
  • Coaching and Development: Provide ongoing coaching and guidance to management to enhance their people management capability.
Requirements
  • Education: University/college degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years' Employee Relations or HR Generalist experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of provincial Employment Standards legislation, Human Rights, Health and Safety legislation, and other applicable employment law. Broad experience in policy and legislation interpretation, customer service, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Demonstrates discretion, confidentiality, sound judgment, and sensitivity in dealing with employee situations. Strong time management and organizational skills and attention to detail to manage work, competing deadlines, and sensitive projects.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced computer skills, and knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems is preferred.
