About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist works under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. This role involves collaborating with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal levels of function in areas such as self-care, productivity, and leisure. The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services within the hospital, client's home, and community settings. They establish individualized treatment plans and goals, manage a busy caseload, and use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues daily. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The Occupational Therapist provides education and support to clients, families, and caregivers, functioning as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and an interprofessional hospital and/or community healthcare team. They contribute to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines and supervise OT Assistants. The Occupational Therapist adheres to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and the professional standards of their licensing body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other health care providers, and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent Full-time, 100% FTE; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Incentives

$33.97 - $42.89 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)
