Job Description

Job Title: Long Term Occasional Teaching Position

Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified and experienced teacher to fill a long-term occasional teaching position in our district. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Indigenous language to students in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Indigenous language to students in a Primary/Junior division
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices

Requirements:

  • Current membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Qualifications in Primary/Junior divisions
  • Additional qualification in Native as a Second Language (NSL)
  • Knowledge of current Ministry initiatives
  • Knowledge of Ojibwe language
  • Excellent English language communication skills, both oral and written
  • Sound knowledge of evidence-based assessment practices
  • Commitment to supporting the use of technology in instruction and learning
  • Working knowledge of the IPRC process and the IEP
  • Knowledge, experience, and proven ability in utilizing differentiated instructional approaches
  • Ability to implement a shared vision consistent with the principles of Catholic Education
  • Willingness to participate in the school's ongoing literacy and numeracy initiatives
  • Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability and commitment to working with students, staff, and parents
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to provide regular attendance
