About the Role
Kunuwanimano Child and Family Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Worker to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, participating, and coordinating cultural, recreational, and social programming for children and youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate cultural, recreational, and social programming for children and youth.
- Provide case management to youth in need of individual support, including crisis intervention, dispute resolution, and other supportive interventions.
- Monitor youth progress and cultural needs.
- Provide information, referrals, and follow-up services to children and youth.
- Support life skills development and goal planning, including educational and job readiness.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and provide written reports as requested.

Requirements
- A Child and Youth Diploma, Social Services Diploma, or equivalent.
- A minimum of three years' experience working within a social services context, preferably with Indigenous families.
- A sound understanding of harm reduction, addictions, mental health, Indigenous healing practices, and history, developmental issues, and high-risk situations faced by children and/or youth.
- The ability to advocate within systems and understand systemic barriers faced by youth.
- Knowledge of individual, family, child, adolescent, and group behavior.
- Knowledge of local community agencies and other professional services available.
- The ability to support traditional and contemporary healing practices and collaborate with Elders, Healers, and contemporary helpers.
- Experience in counselling, case management, file maintenance, and statistical reporting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiating, decision-making, planning, organizational, administrative, and oral and written communication skills.
- A valid 'G' Ontario Driver's license, willingness to travel, and ability to work flexible hours.
- A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- The ability to speak a native language is considered a major asset.
