About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled BIM Coordinator to join our team at Diamond Schmitt Architects. As a key member of our BIM team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our project workflows, software adherence, and library content.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the BIM coordination process across all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring seamless collaboration with project teams.
  2. Develop and implement BIM standards, protocols, and workflows, driving innovation and efficiency in our project delivery.
  3. Design and maintain project-specific content libraries, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  4. Provide training and support to project teams on BIM tools and processes, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  5. Collaborate with the BIM team to enhance our Revit template, ensuring consistency and best practices across projects.
  6. Ensure adherence to project BIM Execution Plans and workflows, guaranteeing high-quality project deliverables.
  7. Manage project models, ensuring a healthy BIM database and facilitating data-driven decision making.
  8. Conduct clash detection and conflict resolution, identifying and mitigating potential issues.
  9. Extract model data for CoBie and dRofus, providing valuable insights for project stakeholders.
  10. Advocate for digital fabrication in the studio, driving innovation and efficiency in our construction processes.
  11. Work closely with project teams to produce fabrication-ready digital models, ensuring seamless handovers.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 2-year College diploma or University degree from a recognized architectural program.
  2. 4 years progressive work experience in an architectural office or equivalent experience.
  3. Proficiency in BIM software, including Revit, Navisworks.
  4. Ability to read 2D working drawings.
  5. Understanding of common building components and how they are assembled to form a complete building.
  6. Strong understanding of BIM standards and protocols, such as ISO 19650.
  7. Multitasking and project management skills.
  8. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  9. Comfortable communicating in working groups of diverse sizes.
  10. BIM visual programming platforms such as Dynamo are an asset.
  11. Understanding BIM for Facility Management is a benefit, but not a requirement.
  12. Understanding Digital Fabrication/3D Model Printing is an asset.
  13. Experience in construction of architectural models and fabricated elements at a variety of scales, including model building materials and techniques.
  14. Experience in translating and rebuilding digital models from Revit, Rhino, FormIt and AutoCAD to proper file formats for 3D printing and laser cutting.
  15. Experience with 3D printing (PLA as main focus, other types considered an asset) and laser cutting.
  16. Photography and documentation experience an asset.
  17. Good understanding of health and safety protocols and record keeping.
