Parts Manager Job Description

Overview

Downtown AutoGroup is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Parts Manager to join our team. As a key member of our dealership, you will be responsible for managing the parts department, ensuring seamless inventory management, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management
    • Oversee inventory levels to ensure the dealership has the right parts in stock to support service and repair demands.
    • Order parts from manufacturers and suppliers to maintain a healthy and efficient inventory.
    • Monitor inventory performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Team Management
    • Supervise and lead the parts team, including hiring, training, and mentoring staff.
    • Assign tasks and manage schedules to ensure sufficient coverage during operating hours.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
  • Customer Service
    • Enhance customer satisfaction by providing timely, efficient, and friendly service.
    • Support the service department by providing parts promptly and accurately.
    • Provide technical advice to customers and technicians.
  • Sales and Profitability
    • Achieve financial goals by monitoring and achieving departmental profitability.
    • Develop promotional strategies to drive parts sales and maintain customer loyalty.
  • Vendor Relations
    • Maintain strong vendor relationships by negotiating contracts, pricing, and delivery terms.
    • Evaluate vendor performance based on cost, quality, delivery times, and reliability.
  • Operational Efficiency
    • Optimize processes to improve parts department efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with dealership, manufacturer, and local government policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a parts management role, preferably in an automotive dealership setting.
  • Deep understanding of automotive parts and systems, including OEM and aftermarket products.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a team, with a focus on training, motivation, and delegation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to resolve customer issues and foster long-term relationships.
