The role requires a Senior Payroll Specialist who will perform a variety of functions relating to the effective administration of payroll. This position is based in Calgary and follows a 37.5 hour workweek, Monday to Friday, with a scheduled lunch break.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Payroll Processing: Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll for all employees. Review the work of Payroll & Benefits Specialists for accuracy and completeness, identify and resolve anomalies. Work with People & Culture to ensure accurate and timely processing of new hires, employee departures and other employee status changes.
  2. Assist with internal and external payroll related audits. Set up and ensure accurate deductions. Calculate staff time sheets, record vacation and sick time taken, and distribute monthly reports to supervisors. Reconcile payments with the Receiver General. Manage Garnishments. Issue Records of Employment.
  3. Prepare year end payroll files, produce and distribute T4s, T2200s and applicable reports for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Set up and manage employer matching group plans such as RRSP, TFSA's & Savings.

Requirements:

  • A diploma in a related field preferred. Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is required. Payroll Leadership Professions designation (PLP) would be considered an asset.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience in payroll administration. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills. Experience with Avanti and UKG is an asset.
  • High ethical standards and professionalism. Sound knowledge of current payroll legislation. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
