STM Associates is seeking an experienced Mine Site Director to lead the mine site and related activities. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, focusing on delivering operational and growth objectives, managing site-specific technical and social risks, and ensuring compliance with corporate policies.

About the Role

This is a senior management position that reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. As Mine Site Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans, aligning them with the company's overall strategy to ensure safe and sustainable mining practices.

You will set safety, operational targets for the site management team, incorporating them into operational budgets and strategic plans. Your goal will be to achieve the annual budget plan for production and cost guidance.

The role requires effective communication, collaboration with stakeholders, including Head Office functional leads, external organizations, and community groups. You must possess strong leadership skills, financial acumen, and the ability to manage complex operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the mine site, aligning with the company's overall strategy
  • Set safety, operational targets for the site management team and incorporate them into operational budgets and strategic plans
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and well-communicated reporting of business performance
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on safety, cost management, production, and productivity improvements
  • Implement business processes and management systems to achieve operating objectives in both the short and long term
  • Promote an organizational structure and culture that enables teamwork, collaboration, high performance, accountability, and personal development
Qualifications and Requirements

A relevant Business and/or Technical degree is required. You must have a career track of progressive, results-oriented, demonstrated, and documented leadership accomplishments in increasingly complex operations roles.

You should possess organizational skills, the management capacity to lead existing operating team members, follow standard operating procedures, implement safety measures, hire frontline supervisors, fill senior management roles, implement employee development/training, and ensure all aspects, processes, and procedures are designed and maintained.

Strong leadership acumen and skill sets to manage across different disciplines, including cross-functional cooperation with safety, planning, refining, processing, finances, supply chain, human resources, community-based issues, environmental concerns, and more, including collaboration with Head Office functional leads.
