Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Biological Scientist to join our research team at The Hospital for Sick Children. The successful candidate will have a strong background in biological sciences and experience in conducting research in a laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct experiments in plant or animal growth, heredity, and breeding
  • Supervise laboratory technical personnel, medical clinical personnel, graduate students, research scientists, and other professionals
  • Conduct molecular or biochemical studies and experiments in genetic expression, gene manipulation, and recombinant DNA technology to develop new or alternative methods of producing products
  • Conduct research into the structure, function, ecology, biotechnology, and genetics of micro-organisms, including bacteria, fungi, protozoans, and algae
  • Prepare research papers, educational texts, or articles
  • Conduct literature reviews
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in biological sciences or a related field
  • 5 years or more of experience in a research laboratory setting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to distinguish between colours
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Standing for extended periods
