Job Description

The Senior Payroll Clerk will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Reviewing and processing payroll and all payroll-related forms for completeness and accuracy
  • Ensuring timecard data is accurately entered into the payroll system
  • Processing layoffs and following payroll procedures for terminated employees
  • Contacts operations supervisors for any missed timecards or discrepancies with timecards

Responsibilities

The Senior Payroll Clerk will work closely with other departments to ensure the smooth operation of our payroll department. This includes:

  • Collaborating with HR to ensure accurate and timely payment of employee wages
  • Working with operations supervisors to resolve any issues related to timecard data or payroll processing
  • Providing training and support to other payroll clerks as needed

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Completion of Grade 12 education, plus completion of Canadian Payroll Association's Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years payroll experience utilizing a computerized payroll program (preferably JD Edwards in a large multi-union environment)
  • Knowledge of the methods, practices, and procedures employed in the preparation and processing of payrolls
