Job Overview

TC Transcontinental is a leading company that excels due to the expertise of its team. We are seeking a Full-Time Environmental Health and Safety Manager for our Whitby location.

The successful candidate will oversee facility safety through best-in-class safety programs, safety infrastructure, and employee training. This role will also provide employee relations support across the employee life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with teams to grow and maintain a strong safety culture with the goal of zero accidents.
  • Lead incident investigations with a focus on root cause analysis and effective countermeasures.
  • Manage safety and health-related vendors and suppliers.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on safety-related compliance measures.
  • Develop policies to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions.
  • Lead the Safety Committee and coordinate safety-related audit programs.
  • Review training needs and develop a comprehensive training program.
  • Integrate safety protocols into HACCP plans and procedures.
  • Lead safety awareness campaigns and improve new employee on-boarding.
  • Advise line management on occupational health & safety and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee-related data and knowledge of legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Business, or related discipline.
  • Minimum ten years' experience in an EHS related role.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and related regulations.
  • Familiarity with food safety principles and regulations is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Leadership and coaching skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for hazard identification and risk assessment.
