TC Transcontinental is a leading provider of innovative and integrated marketing solutions. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team in Whitby.
This key position will be responsible for ensuring the overall facility safety through the implementation of best-in-class safety programs, safety infrastructure, and training for all employees. The successful candidate will also provide employee relations support across multiple stages of the employee life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with various teams and departments to foster a strong safety culture with a goal of zero accidents.
- Lead incident investigations, collaborating with department and team leaders, to identify root causes and implement effective countermeasures.
- Manage relationships with safety-related vendors and suppliers.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on safety compliance measures, ensuring alignment with applicable regulations and oversight.
- Develop and implement policies to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions.
- Lead a cross-functional Safety Committee, promoting active participation from a diverse group of employees.
- Coordinate the safety audit program and associated improvement activities.
- Review training needs and develop a comprehensive program of internal and external courses meeting business needs while complying with statutory health and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with the food safety team to integrate safety protocols into HACCP plans and procedures.
- Design and execute safety awareness campaigns to promote a culture of safety within the facility.
- Organize and conduct new employee on-boarding, creating a positive first experience of the company.
- Provide guidance to line management on occupational health & safety and company policies relevant to specific business decisions and performance management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee-related data.
- Stay informed about legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting policies, procedures, and reporting.
- Address inquiries regarding WSIB programs and educate employees on available benefits.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Business, or a related field;
- At least ten years of experience in an EHS-related position;
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification is desirable;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, MOL and MOE Regulations, and other relevant regulatory requirements;
- Familiarity with food safety principles and regulations is beneficial;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications;
- Leadership and coaching skills;
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills for hazard identification and risk assessment.
