As a Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) Manager, you will play a crucial role in serving high-net-worth families as their personal CFO. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring the financial information of family clients receiving personal CFO services from the division.
  • Serving as the primary contact person for families regarding accounting and fiscal matters.
  • Working collaboratively with various departments to identify opportunities and provide recommendations based on family needs.
  • Coordinating financial activities with family advisors such as bankers, accountants, and lawyers.
  • Navigating complex structures involving investment companies, trust companies, partnerships, and multiple generations.
  • Conducting mandates with professional standards using sound methodologies and techniques.
  • Coordinating, supervising, and providing training to staff in the preparation of financial information and tax returns.
  • Efficiently reviewing compilation engagements as well as corporate, personal, and trust returns.
  • Coordinating and managing various compliance requirements and deadlines.
  • Providing financial projections, tax estimates, and a complete analysis of client pro forma information (understanding implications of transactions and their tax impact).
  • Gaining an understanding of investments including accounting, fiscal, and legal implications.
  • Offering advice on optimizing cash flow and overall structure.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • CPA designation
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Experience in a Family Office is an asset
  • Good knowledge in taxation
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A desire to join a dynamic growing team
  • Detail-oriented, conscientious, and resourceful
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of CaseWare, TJPS (Lotus Notes), and Taxprep, an asset
