About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claims Manager, Accident Benefits Technical Services to join our team at Intact Financial Corporation. As a key member of our Claims Operations team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leading a diverse team of Technical Consultants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of consultants responsible for providing direction and oversight of reserve activity and payments on large or complex claims files for the Accident Benefits Claims Operation.
  • Liaise with other claims experts on technical and claims issues.
  • Act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters such as coverage, policy interpretation, and settlement negotiation to help resolve claims-related issues.
  • Support remediation and knowledge transfer on best practices, processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Effective management of loss costs and expenses through critical evaluation of policies and procedures and execution.
  • Provide corporate governance over claims adjudication practices ensuring the technical services and operational teams are managing claims in accordance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain a respectful and productive business relationship with vendors, service providers, legal firms, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and lead projects in conjunction with Shared Services and the Claims Operation.
  • Monitor key performance indicators on a monthly basis to identify trends and develop strategies and action plans in consultation with the claims operations.

Requirements

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
  • Pursuing your Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is an asset.
  • 8 to 10 years of technical claims knowledge within Accident Benefits.
  • 3 to 5 years of management experience.
  • Experience and ability to identify, manage, and collaborate on projects.
  • Experience identifying, reporting, and presenting on Accident Benefit Claims trends.
  • Superior facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking and influencing skills.
  • Exceptional understanding of Legislation and Compliance.
