Water-Based Exercise Instructor

The City of Ottawa's Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is seeking a qualified Aquafitness Instructor to join our team. As an Aquafitness Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching aquatic fitness programs to participants in a safe and enjoyable manner, following the guidelines of the certifying agency and corporate policies.
Key Responsibilities- Teach aquafitness programming to participants in a safe and enjoyable manner
- Follow guidelines of the certifying agency and corporate policies
- Ensure a high level of customer service and participant satisfaction
- Develop and implement new program ideas and initiatives
- Collaborate with other instructors and department staff to achieve program goals
- Completion of Grade 11 and current certifications from a recognized certifying organization
- Minimum of 6 months of experience or equivalent apprenticeship
- Aquafitness Instructor certificate (CALA, YM-YWCA, WaterART or other recognized certification)
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
- AODA Accessibility/IASR Training
- Knowledge of corporate and departmental policies, guidelines and directives
- Knowledge of City of Ottawa emergency response procedures
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
