About the Role

The BC Public Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wildfire Technician to join our team at the BC Wildfire Service/Coastal Fire Centre. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in planning and implementing wildfire preparedness, response, and prevention initiatives with clients, partners, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise crews and manage an assigned portfolio such as training or prescribed fire
  • Ensure year-round preparedness and response to natural disasters, primarily fire suppression
  • Collaborate with professionals in wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery from across the province
Qualifications
  • Degree in a field related to forestry, resource management, or equivalent knowledge, plus 1 year recent related experience
  • Technical diploma in a field related to forestry, resource management, or equivalent knowledge, plus 3 years recent related experience
  • Grade 12 plus 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training
Preferred Qualifications
  • Incident Commander 4 or higher
  • Fire fighting experience
  • Emergency management experience
