Job Summary

Northern Health Authority seeks an experienced Physician Associate to join its team in providing high-quality care to patients across the organization.

About the Role

The successful candidate will serve as a physician extender, working under the supervision of an Attending Physician to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients with acute, chronic, and complex illnesses. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively within a team-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage common medical problems, including chest pain, dyspnea, hypertension, and electrolyte abnormalities
  • Initiate response to emergency situations, such as shock, acute coronary syndrome, and stroke
  • Assess and initiate treatment of acute injuries and illnesses in the Emergency Department
  • Work collaboratively with the Most Responsible Physician, residents, nursing, and allied care providers to provide continuous care to patients

Requirements

  • Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC in the Associate Physician – Acute class, sponsored by Northern Health Authority
  • Canadian Citizenship, permanent residency, or ability to live and work in British Columbia
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification prior to commencing orientation and maintenance throughout employment

Compensation

The estimated salary for this role is $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, pension plan, and professional development opportunities.
