About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team at Nova Scotia Health. This is a collaborative, holistic care position providing comprehensive support to patients across the primary to quaternary care continuum.

The successful candidate will be a member of the healthcare team, focusing on the relationships between individuals and their environments, which are essential for psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The social determinants of health are embedded in social work theory and practice, and the successful candidate will be responsible for engaging, assessing, planning, intervening, and evaluating patient care.

This is a multi-site position at Guysborough Memorial Hospital and Eastern Memorial Hospital Canso.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university, current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and a minimum of two years' post-Bachelor's degree clinical experience. Previous experience working in community-based settings is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to use a client- and family-centered approach, familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches, and experience with group facilitation. They will also be able to complete biopsychosocial assessments, communicate effectively, and assist patients and families with navigation of local community resources and agencies.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule. The successful candidate will be compensated between $33.96 and $42.89 per hour. They may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
