About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team at the City of Lethbridge. As a key member of our Facilities Services Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and functional operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership of building maintenance services for approximately 200 facilities under the department's purview.
  • Managerial, technical resource, and field oversight roles to ensure successful planning, repairs, and maintenance, and contract management.
  • Development and management of budgets, as well as collection, analysis, and reporting of relevant data and trends.
  • Management and mentorship of trade staff and support staff to foster a respectful work environment that promotes growth, customer service, and teamwork.
  • Provision of guidance, proactive assessment of maintenance needs, oversight of the Preventative Maintenance plan, and implementation of building maintenance responsibilities as outlined in service agreements.
  • Annual inspections and certifications related to regulatory building system compliance, as well as overall responsibility for managing, operating, and maintaining all Building Management Systems (BMS) to support the functionality and overall operations of our building assets.
  • Management of the implementation of our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) system as it relates to the maintenance scope of work to ensure efficient and effective deliverables, good asset management practices, and accurate facility records.
  • Review and promotion of safe work practices, as well as ensuring work is carried out in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Management of maintenance KPIs and integration of performance metrics in the delivery of our team's maintenance services.
Requirements
  • Journeyman certification in either carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC disciplines, or relevant training and credentials in a building-systems related field, including supervisory skills and administrative responsibilities.
  • A minimum of 10 years of related building industry experience, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Prior staff management experience is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge and work experience in building maintenance, design, construction, project management, planning, contract management, and customer service.
  • Experience and knowledge of building systems, including operations and maintenance requirements.
  • Proficient relationship and collaboration skills to successfully build rapport and work with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with high proficiency in inter-discipline collaboration.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A willingness to stay current with relevant industry best practices and standards.
  • Proficient computer skills.
Additional Requirements
  • Applicants must submit a copy of their post-secondary credentials or certifications.
  • The successful incumbent will be required to use their personal vehicle to travel throughout the City, and must maintain appropriate insurance coverage for this purpose.
  • The successful incumbent may occasionally be required to work beyond regular working hours and on weekends, primarily as a resource for on-call staff.
  • Short-listed candidates may be required to successfully pass a Police Information Check (PIC).
