About the Role

Sunrise Farms, a leading poultry industry company, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians in providing high-level maintenance expertise to ensure departmental downtime is minimized and company objectives are met efficiently.
  • Perform equipment and building repairs as required, adhering to quality, safety, and legislative guidelines.
  • Comply with company safety, federal, state, and local regulations, as well as environmental requirements.
  • Perform tasks as per recommended job methods, procedures, etc., particularly on the repair and installation of production machines, bearings, seals, and their alignment.
  • Maintain RTU filters, belts, and general maintenance.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to Production & common areas.
  • Diagnose complex and common faults of mechanical equipment by inspection and using appropriate tools of preventive maintenance.
  • Use power and hand tools in a skillful and efficient manner, maintaining them in clean operating condition.
  • Replace solenoids, motors, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure all safeguarding is in place and functional, including safety sensors, limit switches, and photo-eyes.
  • Electrical knowledge to replace lamps, ballasts, and familiarity with thermostats and sensors.
  • Plan and organize all aspects of work and job assignments in an efficient and productive way.
  • Maintain work areas in clean and safe conditions, removing all waste on completion of job, or earlier if necessary.
  • Report all defects, errors in production, and machines that may affect the workplace to the Maintenance Supervisor/Operations Manager.
  • Perform and assist on other maintenance duties as required.
  • Work closely with contractors and oversee activities as required. Provide resource support as needed.
  • Complete tasks at the request of the Maintenance Manager/Operations Manager.
Requirements
  • Maintain prompt and courteous response to production team requests within the guidelines set forth by Sunrise Farms.
  • Experience in millwright, welding, mechanical aptitude.
  • Must perform overtime, weekend work, and on-call/support as required.
  • Shift work as required.
  • Grade 12 education.
  • Have 1 to 3 years related experience.
  • Experience in a food processing plant an asset.
  • Experience with live animals and proper care and handling an asset.
  • Be success-driven and have a can-do attitude.
  • Be able to work independently, as well as being a strong team player.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have a good safety record.
  • Flexible and adaptable in ever-changing environments.
  • Basic welding an asset.
Preferred
  • Trade certification an asset.
