Job Summary:

The Composite Operator is a key member of our team at Carfair Composites, responsible for using hand tools in lamination to build and fabricate high-quality fiberglass parts. If you have a passion for working with composite materials and a keen eye for detail, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials and molds for composite production, ensuring accuracy and precision in every step.
  • Utilize various manufacturing techniques, such as hand lay-up and vacuum infusion, to create complex composite components.
  • Trim, sand, and finish composite components to exacting standards, ensuring a high-quality finish.
  • Follow safety procedures and quality standards at all times, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to meet production targets and deadlines, working effectively as part of a team.
  • Inspect parts after de-molding for any non-conformities, using a range of tools and techniques to identify and rectify issues.
  • Cut required fiberglass materials to the proper size and shape using dies, templates, and cutout patterns.
  • Operate and maintain pneumatic equipment, such as spray guns, drills, and polishers, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Support and adhere to all Lean and 5s initiatives, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Document all non-conformities on a Corrective and Preventive Action Report, submitting the form to authorized personnel.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in composite manufacturing is preferred, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing techniques is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicating clearly and respectfully with colleagues.
  • Experience with various hand tools, such as pneumatic, electric, and manual tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
