Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join our team in Montreal. As a key member of our water resources management team, you will be responsible for leading the design and planning of hydraulic systems for the mining and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and plan hydraulic design for mining and industrial projects, including site drainage and tailings management;
  • Supervise junior hydraulic engineers and provide guidance on project development;
  • Audit field and design teams to ensure compliance with hydraulic regulations;
  • Conduct site inspections and prepare statutory reports on hydraulic matters;
  • Supervise and conduct breach analysis for dams and tailings ponds, including particle entrainment;
  • Participate in review of tailings management plans from a hydraulic perspective;
  • Supervise and review plans and specifications for hydraulic infrastructure construction;
  • Develop business opportunities in collaboration with other business units;
  • Promote hydrology expertise to internal and external clients;
  • Participate in recruitment, training, and mentorship of junior staff;
  • Stay up-to-date with hydraulic technologies, standards, and industry practices related to tailings management and waste rock;
  • Work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment;
  • Exhibit inclusion and openness in relationships with colleagues and business partners.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field;
  • Master's degree in Hydrology (Ph.D. is an asset);
  • Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ);
  • More than 5 years of relevant experience in the field;
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken;
  • Familiarity with environmental and hydraulic regulations related to mining;
  • Good knowledge of applicable calculation methods (hydrological, hydraulic, floodplain evaluations);
  • Good knowledge of pump station design, pump selection, control structures, and other hydraulic infrastructure;
  • Good knowledge of modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, Aquaveo WMS, Goldsim, 2D modeling);
  • Experience in supervising work teams;
  • Experience in project management;
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills;
  • Familiarity with planning and protocols for hydraulic instrumentation;
  • Assertive leadership and mobilization skills, initiative, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and priorities;
  • Short-term mobility for regional travel (occasional site inspections and visits).
