Job Overview

The Lead Hydraulics Engineer will engage in the design and analysis of hydrological systems and hydraulic structures, contributing to river and coastal development initiatives within a collaborative team in the energy sector. The projects span various domains, including hydroelectric energy generation, flood mitigation, transportation infrastructure, ecological development, and port enhancements. We provide a flexible hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a combination of remote work and office presence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform analyses related to river hydraulics, including hydrological assessments, design flow calculations, hydrogeomorphological studies, sediment transport evaluations, and floodplain mapping.
  • Utilize advanced modeling software to simulate the hydraulics of waterways and hydraulic systems in one-dimensional, two-dimensional, and three-dimensional formats.
  • Design hydraulic structures such as spillways, retention basins, channels, bridges, culverts, and penstocks.
  • Conduct dam safety evaluations.
  • Evaluate the implications of climate change on various infrastructures and execute field surveys as necessary.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary project coordination.
  • Manage client relationships, oversee projects, or handle specific project components.
  • Draft and review technical documentation and assist in the formulation of plans and specifications.
  • Contribute to the development of service agreements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Master's Degree in Hydrology or Hydraulic Engineering with a focus on modeling is advantageous.
  • Experience in hydrogeomorphology is a plus.
  • Membership in l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in river and/or coastal hydraulics.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written French.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English to facilitate communication on specific projects.
