On-Site Technical Support Specialist

Job Summary:

The On-Site Technical Support Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support to end-users, ensuring the successful delivery of End User Computing services. This role will involve troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, deploying and upgrading hardware and software, and providing inventory control and lifecycle asset management for end-user computing devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support: Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to desktop hardware, operating systems, enterprise application software, peripherals, and mobile devices.
  2. Hardware and Software Deployment: Deploy and upgrade Windows 10 laptops and desktops for end-users, ensuring timely and efficient execution of upgrades.
  3. Inventory Control and Asset Management: Provide inventory control and lifecycle asset management for end-user computing devices, ensuring accurate tracking and management of assets.
  4. Problem-Solving: Identify and understand technical problems, determine the best solution, and implement and test the solution to ensure complete and proper resolution.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Currently enrolled in a University degree or College diploma in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or Information Technology.
  2. Reliability Clearance: Requires 5 years of Canadian residency history due to the additional RCMP clearance/background check needed for this role.
  3. Technical Skills: Demonstrated knowledge and skills with PC operating systems (specifically Windows 10 and Windows 11), their setup and configuration, computer hardware repair, and device connectivity (TCP/IP, network adapter configuration).
  4. Communication Skills: Proven customer experience, practiced communication skills, both verbal and written.
  5. Additional Skills: Good understanding of network (WAN, LAN, VPN) and telephony systems, working knowledge of enterprise software tools such as MS Office365, and ability to multitask, plan, prioritize and achieve goals in an efficient and productive manner.
