Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team in the Early Years Program at Central Community Health Centre and other Community Health Centres in North Vancouver, BC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize public health nursing knowledge and expertise to promote and protect the optimal health, well-being, and safety of infants, young children, youth, adults, and families at all ages and life stages through selected and targeted programming.
  • Provide a full continuum of services, including prevention, health promotion, and early intervention services, to individuals and groups in various community-based settings.
  • Establish and maintain interdisciplinary and community partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify clients as individuals, communities, or systems and determine necessary interventions using a continuum of public health nursing interventions, such as screening, assessment, referral, advocacy, surveillance, monitoring, education, and consultation.
Requirements
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of specialty nursing certificate/certified practice (BCCNM), as applicable.
  • Two (2) years' recent, related public health nursing experience, including experience related to the designated client population, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a 20-hour breastfeeding certificate.
  • The BCCDC Immunization certificate.
  • Experience working with the 0 to 5 population.

The hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
