Position Overview

Centric Brands Inc. is a leading lifestyle brand collective seeking a skilled Senior Designer to join our design team in Montreal. As a Senior Designer, you will play a key role in shaping the aesthetic of our women's sportswear line, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and style.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research to inform product ideation and conception, staying ahead of the latest trends in the women's sportswear industry.
  • Identify fabric, yarn, and trim trends, projecting fashion essentials and silhouettes by month and season to ensure our products remain relevant and competitive.
  • Shop markets and retail landscapes to source high-quality fabrics, trims, and details for style development.
  • Present research findings and style boards to the VP, conveying ideas and justifying design choices.
  • Interpret fashion forecasts in the context of our merchandise line plan and sales trends to inform design decisions.
  • Create style boards, selecting silhouettes, colors, fabrics, prints, and patterns to showcase our brand's aesthetic.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to develop original prints and graphics, and work with technical designers to create detailed technical drawings and color CADs using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Develop styles and technical packs in PLM, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communicate design vision to educate the team and drive buy-in for new ideas.
  • Leverage sales insights to inform product opportunities and drive process to capitalize on market trends.
  • Partner with Merch/Sales to inform the seasonal line plan and collaborate with sourcing to build-out core and seasonal fabric and trim palette with an emphasis on quality and sustainability.
  • Participate in fit approval process with technical designer, fit technician, and production manager to ensure a cohesive aesthetic.
  • Collaborate with Brand on packaging requirements and seasonal product storytelling.
  • Own the 'hand-off' of a tech pack within the technical designer, outlining the needs of the garment and ensuring all design timelines are met.
  • Awareness and ownership in achieving product margin targets.
  • Visit retail stores to understand how our product compares to competitors and lead/ coach tech designer and graphic designers.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of related experience in apparel design.
  • Excellent understanding of the contemporary and lifestyle markets on a global scale.
  • Knowledge of knits, wovens, blouses, and bottoms.
  • Dedication to quality and sustainability.
  • Ability to take ownership and be accountable.
  • Ability to take direction and be coachable and adaptable.
  • Ability to forecast and understand market trends and address them.
  • Ability to inspire and confidently campaign for ideas and proposals.
  • Thorough understanding of apparel constructions, materials, costing, and processes.
  • Highly motivated, creative, and enthusiastic.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate strategically with cross-functional partners and drive towards shared success and outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience leading teams and developing design talent.
  • Strong proficiency of MS Office Suite.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Bilingual (French/English), with English being necessary for this position.
  • Knowledge of PLM is an asset.
  • Experience in creating technical drawings, CAD & illustrations.
