Perioperative Nurse

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at GR Baker Memorial Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and nursing practice activities within the framework of quality management in accordance with the Northern Health mission statement.

Participate in the Northern Health Regional Operating Room Education (RORE) program, which combines AORN's Periop 101 online curriculum with a skills lab and clinical preceptorship to prepare nurses to provide safe and competent perioperative nursing care in both the scrub and circulating roles.

Work in the Post Anesthetic Recovery (PAR) area, a fast-paced, highly technological environment where nurses balance competing demands, including continuous patient observation and vigilant monitoring using minimally invasive monitoring equipment.

Requirements:

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.

Demonstrates clinical competence in surgical principles and procedures.

Ability to physically perform the duties of the job.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Important Note:

Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.

Additional study time, outside of schedule hours, may be required to successfully complete the program.

Flexibility for practicums is necessary.

Learners should expect to make a 6 – 12 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning.

Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required.

There are 5 training positions available for 2024/2025.

Applicable sites: Quesnel, Vanderhoof.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:00 to 16:00.

GR Baker Memorial Hospital is a full care hospital with 27 Acute Care beds, 4 ICU beds and 5 crisis stabilization beds.
