About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Designer to join our team at Scotiabank. As a Product Designer, you will be responsible for designing digital banking and investing experiences that impact our clients' day-to-day lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in design decisions for digital banking and investing experiences
  • Understand our clients' motivations and needs through rigorous design research and usability principles
  • Consider customer interactions and journeys and act as an advocate for their constant improvement through accessible and inclusive design principles and implementation
  • Partner and collaborate with product management, engineering, business partners, and designers across multiple platforms
  • Consume and contribute to a design system and advocate for its usage
  • Understand our users through rigorous design research and usability principles
  • Independently plan for upcoming deliverables and deliver high-quality results in a timely manner
  • Run and participate in design jams and workshops with other designers and stakeholders

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience designing for and maintaining responsive web and native mobile platforms
  • A portfolio of work that presents the story of projects you have worked on, your role, and examples of your problem-solving methods
  • Post-secondary education in interaction design or a closely related field
  • Expertise in the use of Figma for digital design and prototyping
  • Ability to work within the constraints of a Design System with flexibility and a desire to push existing standards to the next level
  • Ability to communicate concepts, ideas, and strategies using rapid visual design techniques
  • A positive and resilient personality with a desire for continuous iteration and improvement
  • Comfortable working in an independent, self-guided manner and collaborating with other designers and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Effectively able to prioritize and pivot in response to evolving business constraints and new requirements
  • A fast learner with an appetite to uncover what is behind both simple and complex financial solutions
  • A demonstrable history of applying design thinking tenets and user-centered design principles to design problems
  • Solid understanding of Human-centered Design practices, including Design thinking methodologies, research, and user testing protocols, and Agile frameworks
  • A high level of technical acuity with a thorough understanding of front-end technologies
