Job Description

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Commercial Projects to join our team. As a key member of our Commercial Projects team, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex and politically-sensitive projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead client engagements through the lifecycle of a project, including discovery, solution design, procurement, and implementation.
  • Manage market engagement with industry to validate and refine transaction models.
  • Succinctly communicate and present ideas, strategies, and commercial solutions to government officials and key stakeholders.
  • Design and implement procurement approaches and evaluate bids.
  • Manage commercial and legal negotiations with the private sector.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor team members.
  • Oversee and manage external advisors and/or liaise with internal partners, depending on project needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working on broadband, satellite, and/or other utility infrastructure projects.
  • Experience leading the development and presentation of complex strategies/transaction structures to senior decision-makers.
  • Experience leading large cross-functional teams to deliver complex and politically-sensitive projects.
  • Ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to successfully navigate ambiguous situations and align multiple senior stakeholders around a common solution and path forward.
  • Substantial experience in financial/professional services (e.g., management consulting, engineering, planning, legal services).
  • Financial modeling, service delivery, infrastructure, or land use transaction experience a plus.
  • Experience working for government clients or with political stakeholders an asset.
